SHOULD I GO TO THE DOCTOR?

Do not hesitate to be checked out by medical professionals as soon as possible at the scene of an accident, or shortly afterwards. Even if you walked away from it, and only feel “shook up,” you should still get checked out. Many serious “minor impact soft tissue (MIST)” injuries manifest themselves days or weeks later. It is important that you seek medical attention if there is any chance that you are injured.

Also, get medical attention for any lingering pain or discomfort. You may think that pain is going to “go away” like it always did when you were 15, but you are not 15 anymore. Waiting to get treatment is not good for your health, and it will affect the value of your case. Without a medical record and history, there is no independent documentation of your injury. The insurance adjuster or defense lawyer will look at the lack of a medical record as suspect, and it will be more difficult to justify the injuries and pain you are feeling. Go to the doctor or the ER as soon as you can to get a diagnosis and plan for recovery.

My objective will be to win your case and get you the compensation you deserve for your injuries. Yourobjective will be to follow your doctor’s treatment plan to the letter. Never miss an appointment, and take all medications as prescribed. A serious accident necessarily causes lots of paperwork. A record is being made by the police, your employer (if the accident was on-the-job), etc. Ensure that your medical records adequately confirm and reflect the extent of your injuries. Remember, your objective is to heal.
