DO I NEED TO TAKE PICTURES AT THE ACCIDENT?

Yes, if you can. Take as many pictures as you can, even if the police are taking photos. Try to get the location, the vehicles involved, people involved and witnesses, especially if they have been injured. Get pictures of the various approaches to the scene, the road conditions, and shots of the weather if possible. Get shots from multiple angles and locations if you can, as this might help an accident reconstructionist if we need one later. If your vehicle is a wreck, get pictures of the damage before it is towed.

It is important to make these pictures as soon as possible after the accident. Obviously your first priority is to take care of your injuries, but it is important to get these pictures fast, so take them yourself, or get us to do it immediately. There is such a thing as a “pre” skid mark, which is a faint mark that is left on the pavement before the tire locks up and leaves a skid mark. These “pre” skid marks disappear off the roadway within 24 hours after an accident, so it is important to get pictures ASAP.

If you are unable to take photographs, contact our office immediately at (601) 991-1099 or toll free at 866-991-1555. 800-672-1036. The Guthrie Firm has investigators and other experts on standby that can get to the scene of any serious accident and preserve and document valuable evidence that will help us with your case.
